Bridge Over the Swamp - Welcome to the 'Lynn Street Post'

Annie Howell, a former Discovery colleague of mine, launched her own communications and PR firm, The Punch Point Group, in June of 2015, along with another former Discovery colleague, Bryan Hughes. About a year later (in March of 2017) she posted on LinkedIn the John Saddington infographic above referencing how it was a good representation of her startup journey. That post came at the right time for me, as I was somewhere around "This is going to be a lot of work".

I was lucky enough to have former colleagues and friends who I have relied on from the outset, including Nancy Royston, Tahia Marable (now with The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children), Scott Fleming (Strada Education Network), Chuck Amos (GuideK12), Steve Gross (Calvert Education), Terry Nealon (Fishtree), Eric Phillips (Discovery Communications) and countless others. Steve Dembo (Teach42), Katie Lisowski (Brainshop Marketing) and Jess Napoli (Content Brick) continue to be fellow engineers building our own bridges who I can depend on for guidance and support around the work I am doing. And then, when I could barely breathe, Karen Sanders and Laila Chatelain became members of the Lynn Street team and, along with my family and friends, became the supports for my bridge over “the swamp”.

We have been lucky to work with some amazing clients over the past year and a half and as we close out 2017, I am encouraged by the fact that we continue to work with many of our earliest clients and talk to new companies each week. We listen to their short-term goals, their long-term dreams and we give them a bit of advice and insight. Whether they end up working with us or not, we hope to be one of the supports for their "bridge over the swamp".

A blog has been in the works since Lynn Street launched, but finding the time to write has been a challenge. We have polished up the list of blog ideas and will be posting semi-regularly moving forward. We will also be featuring blogs from friends across a variety of industries.

Think of "Lynn Street Post" as a window into our journey as well as a place where we can learn from each other. Follow along and please don't hesitate to comment. You can also subscribe via our website "lightbox" so you get notified of new posts.

Thanks and have a great holiday!

Alex
